Part 4 Restoration of a 1974 Jeep CJ5 - Tub Removal

 Part 4 Restoration of a 1974 Jeep CJ5 - Tub Removal

The wiring was already a disaster. I marked a few things as I removed them, but I wish I had marked more than I did. There were a lot of lights and gauges not working and a lot of wires going nowhere.

I had to remove the plow and plow frame. At this point I wasn't sure if I wanted to put it back on or not But I knew I wanted it removable. It was welded to the bumper. I cut it off. I will design a way to bolt it on when I put it back together.

Taking off the top was fairly straight forward. I then unhooked all the linkage and the steering wheel.

The fender had been replaced at some point in the jeeps lifetime so they were in decent shape.

The tub however needs major renovations.

I thought about purchasing a new tub, but that went against the principle of doing all the work myself......sort of. So i entertained the idea, however I could not find any that wasn't a four month wait, and as I researched, the work was well underway. In the end I decoded to give the cut and welding a try.
