Part 6 Restoration of a 1974 Jeep CJ5 - Assessing The Tub and Sub Frame
The body repair was easily the most challenging. I probably maintained the whole idea of doing all the work a little farther than needed but the pre manufactured panels were pricey and shipping and the time wasted waiting didn't fit for me, so I commenced to making the parts and welding them together are required.
This is what the frame looked like.
I bent 16 gauge metal to form new frame members and welded them in place.
I will be the first to admit it didn't turn out perfect, but I'm far from disappointed. The learning experience was fantastic, although there were times when the frustration meant taking a couple days off, or at least shifting priorities to another part of the restore.
